Social Media Triangulation
The Power-of-4

Creating synergy with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube with Site Build It (from SiteSell) can help you build powerful and targeted networks.

Hi Ho and welcome,

Just a short note on how you can use Social Media Triangulation to create powerful and comprehensive networks, particularly for business.

Before I explain my strategies for utilising Social Media to build powerful networks, I want to ask you an important question:

In your view, is Social Media a Fad?

If your answer is yes, you might want to watch the short video below.

(I have to admit that I thought it was when I started getting invitations to Facebook and LinkedIn from former students and clients in the international trade area back in 2008. For more of my introduction to social media watch the VIDEO on Social Media Networking YouTube video below).

If your answer is No, you can skip the video and read on.

Click the video below to play

So...

... the next question is...

Why build Powerful Social Media Networks?

Good Question.

In today’s economic environment, whether you are a professional, a business owner, an entrepreneur, an entertainer or wanting to build your future career, or, on the other hand, you want to promote a not for profit organisation, a charity, a special interest group or some other worthwhile cause or purpose, then Social Media provides a no cost way of achieving that.

Also, the New Global Economy has seen some big names in commerce, industry and the financial sectors disappear, to the despair of their creditors and the detriment of the wider community.

This has, in turn, created some caution, if not cynicism towards internet based businesses, where their monetisation has yet to be tested or proved, particularly, when reflecting of the bursting of the Dot-Com-Bubble back in March 2000.

So, building separate networks acts as a back-up system. Thus, should one or more of these popular networks founder and disappear, and your network with it, you will still have one or more of the other platforms as a fall back with those networks intact.

How come Social Media Triangulation is the Power-of-4?

I know, I know. It sounds like an oxymoron doesn’t it?

The triangulation I’m talking about here is not two dimensional; in fact it’s three dimensional. That is, it’s a tetrahedron or a triangular pyramid.

   The Tetrahedron of
   Social Media Networking

And this has become the network building model I have developed for my own business and is the model I am now assisting other businesses with for their online network building strategies.

Common Sense and Strategy

I assessed each of the four dominant and fastest growing social media networks, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube and made a simple common sense list of the advantages and disadvantages of each one.

Once I reviewed the strengths and weaknesses of each network, it occurred to me how to develop a simple yet powerful strategy to increase the capabilities and potential of my own network and hence other people’s networks as well.

Many are now using this concept. Are you?

Dynamic Public Relations Tool

I realised that by combining these four networks, anyone could develop a synergy that built on the strengths of each network individually.

Collectively , these four social media networks provide powerful, comprehensive and dynamic Public Relations and promotional tools.

In the initial stages of my testing I didn’t utilize YouTube and added it later to my Social Media mix.

(You can read a short article I wrote for Dynamic Business in early April, 2009). Social Media Marketing – an alternative strategy in tough times

Build Your Own Powerful Network

If you want to build a significant and effective network for yourself and your business, then join me at these four Social Media Networks to reap the benefits each one provides but more importantly used in combination strategically:

1) FACEBOOK

At Facebook, you have the advantages of its multimedia options, in that, you can utilise text, photographs and video. This becomes an effective medium for text and graphical promotional activities.

You can also create separate pages for Business, Organisations or for your “Fans”.

Build your network at Facebook and become my Friend there as well. Click here for my Facebook page.

2) LINKEDIN

At LinkedIn, you have the world’s largest professional network, which is essentially an online resume.

This provides you with a professional hub where people can check your own credibility and experience and you can also check theirs. Importantly, you can link in to a wide variety of special interest groups within LinkedIn.

Build your professional network at LinkedIn and connect with me there. Click here for my LinkedIn page.

3) TWITTER

At Twitter, the micro blogging network you can, quickly get messages out via the web, PDA or cell/mobile phones, as well as keep up to date with up-to-the-minute news and information.

Twitter is also a place to find out what others may be saying about your business, or check out what ideas and concepts are trending. All of this is in real time.

You can also, in particular, accelerate your network growth dramatically faster with Twitter which is not possible with the other above mentioned networks.

When I got serious with twitter I realised its potential in building not only a large Twitter Network but also inviting Twitter followers to send me invitations from Facebook and LinkedIn. This is how I have developed ever expanding networks on these social media platforms as well.

To build you network quickly, follow me at Twitter (if you’re not already doing so). Click here for my Twitter page.

4) YOUTUBE

YouTube, as you are no doubt aware, is a video sharing website on which users can upload, share and view videos.

Unregistered users can watch the videos, while registered users are permitted to upload an unlimited number of videos. There is no cost for this, as with the membership of the other social networks mentioned above.

By way of an example of a YouTube usage for my business, Steve Crossman, of the Social Media Channel back in 2009 interviewed me for B2BNetworking.com.au. discussing opportunities for expanding your business through networking both online and offline.

Here’s the video...

In the last year or so I have created a number of YouTube Channels for a number of business ventures of my own as well as for a select number of clients.

You too can gain some traction, and publicity using the YouTube medium.

Check out YouTube and start thinking how you can take advantage of the free video hosting service and how you can promote yourself, your business, brand, product, service or all of the above.

Site Build It (SBI) and Social Media Triangulation the Power-of-4

For my web sites I use Site Build It (SBI) by

SiteSell

which provides an all-in-1 package for not only building a web site but also a profitable business.

When you harness SBI with the strategic use of Social Media Triangulation the Power-of-4, you unleash a powerful process to get your message out to the world and attract clients and customers.

As an example, I produced and unloaded is a series of 6 information videos to YouTube. The first video “New Incoterms 2010 Part 1- New terms and Structure” was uploaded on on Jul 23, 2010. The video was a heads-up about impending changes to the International Chamber of Commerce’s International Commercial Terms (don’t worry if you don’t know about these unless you do importing and/or exporting). Here is the video ... (No need to watch it – but you might want to click through to YouTube to analyse the strategies I used in the video text and tag details).

42,000 views in just over 6 months. You can check on the latest view count by clicking on the video above and then click the “Watch on YouTube button on the YouTube logo

Using The following page on one of my websites Incoterms 2010 Videos explaining the ICC rules for the use of domestic and international trade terms , and my social media strategies, I achieved over 42,000 views of video 1 in just over 6 months and enquires from two large global companies, a pharmaceutical company and a Telco, to ask if they could use my videos for training their staff around the world. That has led to a whole new direction for my business, Social Learning online.

Well, that’ a little bit of my story of using social media for my business. I trust that if you are not using social media for you business at present it will

Do you have knowledge and content (Speaker notes, eBooks, videos, audios, PowerPoint Presentations etc) that you would like to monetise?

Want to build your own Social Learning facility (or have it built for you) to share your knowledge and get paid for it?

I may be able to help you. If you would like to explore the possibilities, please go right now to my
feedback page. with a brief outline of your of you content.. (It doesn’t matter what part of the world you are in. This is a virtual service).

I look forward to getting to know you on these online social networks and maybe we’ll meet in person somewhere, sometime in the future.

Best Regards,
