What if Jesus was born in 2011 … How would we find out? Social Media...

What if Jesus was born in 2011 ...

As a Christian believer and a Social Media practitioner, I have often wondered, ‘what would have happened if Jesus Christ was born in these times?’

Would Jesus have used Social Media platforms like I use today?

Platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube? (I’ve dubbed this foursome “Social Media Triangulation The-Power-of-4”).

What about Foursquare, Google, Gmail and Amazon?

Well if Jesus chose not to, I’m sure the Apostles would have. Perhaps the gospels would have been self published at Amazon by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Now, the Apostle Paul is perhaps the greatest networker ever. Certainly in the first century.

Paul of Tarsus the Great Connector

Albert-László, Barabási, author of “Linked,” describes the activities Paul the evangelist as a great networker. Because he was “linked” all over Asia Minor.

Malcolm Gladwell, author of “The Tipping Point,” describes three types of people involved in creating networks:

Connectors are the people who "link us up with the world ... people with a special gift for bringing the world together.”

Mavens are "information specialists", or people we rely upon to connect us with new information and trends.

Salesmen are "persuaders", charismatic people with powerful negotiation skills.

Paul, the apostle, I believe could well qualify for all three of the above types of networkers..

Paul, indeed was a great connector as well described by Iggy Pintado author of “Connection Generation.”

So, as Paul was such a great connector, I’m sure if he were living in current times, he would have been an early adopter of Social Media and used it to great advantage.

The Birth of Jesus...

Well getting back to Jesus...

... What if Jesus was born in 2011?

Would it be announced on Twitter in 140 characters or less?...

... well, a good friend and colleague of mine sent me the following message by email:

“Hope you have a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year. This YouTube just cracked me up! Reminded me of you

Corinne”

Now the YouTube isn’t mine. However I recon if Jesus was born today it might go something like this...

So...

... what if Jesus was born in 2011 ...

Times change, the feeling remains the same.

Jesus was born over 2000 years ago and not in 2011.

The big question is, is he alive today?...

What do think?

What do you believe?

Finally...

... my simple credo is ΙΧΘΥΣ,the ancient acrostic formed by the classical Greek word for "fish" and used by Early Christians as a secret symbol.

As “ less is more” as the saying goes, the acrostic ΙΧΘΥΣ works well in Twitter and goes like this (in Engish)...

ΙΧΘΥΣ - Jesus Christ Son of God Saviour.

Have a Happy Christmas, wherever in the world you happen to be. And I trust the New Year is everything you want it to be.

Best Regards,
